Did you know that the average plate/bowl size has increased by around 20% in the last 50 years?

Because we tend to fill our plates up, this means we have gradually been eating more and more over the years.

Portion size is really important when it comes to weight management. If you can control your portion sizes, you can still enjoy many of your favourite foods on a regular basis.

A simple way to help control your portion sizes is to invest in a few smaller bowls (such as my pudding bowl on the right!) and plates that have a thick, brightly coloured rim around the outside next time you replace your crockery.

This little act will lead to smaller portions without you even knowing it and probably a drop in weight as a result!
